Been a while since I've been active on the board folks, but I'm not dead yet. Some may remember me and my van "the Rumcutter" from a few years ago, maybe not. Well to make a long story short, I sold her to an awesome fellow vanner named Brad in KY and he has renamed her "the Ramblin' Van". I was having some issues getting proper care for my grandmother. After 8 months of court battles and $6,000 I got guardianship of her, and she is being cared for properly. Then my pop passed away a little over 2 years ago, and I've been fighting health issues myself from two tours in Iraq.

Aside from all that mess, I'm doing okay. Trying to get the health issues sorted. My biggest problem lately is a serious lack of van in my driveway. I've acquired a pretty neat 1968 K10 Chevy, but I guess I never believed them when they said "once a vanner, always a vanner" but that saying is hitting home hard now. So I'm on the hunt to remedy that problem.

A few years ago I was running some errands and took a different back country road than my normal. It was on that road through a long slow curve, I heard someone call my name. At first glance I didn't quite believe my eyes. After all, she was very well camouflaged into some lonely pine trees lining a long driveway. But I heard hear call my name clear as day and I couldn't help but jam the brakes and lust after her beauty.

I have been trying to resist her calls over the past years, but it's getting harder and harder, and I find myself driving that road more often as time passes just to get a glimpse of her. I'll be the first to admit, I've always been more of a 71-76 G10 kind of guy, but something about this beautiful lady I find simply irresistible. So I finally broke down yesterday and pulled up the long driveway to have a closer look.

The man of the house wasn't home, but the lady was, and she said he had bought her brand new in the mid to late 70's. She didn't know much other than that, but said he had spent many hours working on her, and was so far very reluctant to sell her. I completely understand why, but I can't help but try.

So the lady of the house gave me permission to take a closer look and a few pictures. I jumped at the opportunity and will go back again soon to see if I have any better luck at rescuing this damsel in distress. Shag carpet intact, Pioneer Super Tuner, captain's chairs, wing and visor, turbine rims, port windows. Man she really knows how to dress.

I'll keep you all posted on my progress. Wish me luck. In the meantime, here are a couple shots I snagged, and one of the 1968 K10 just so you can get an idea of what it looks like. Oooohhh baby!

Thanks man. Even if he won't sell, I'm hoping I can help him get the old girl road worthy again. It's been sitting since 1996, and she needs to be in the wind again for sure.
