Hello all.
My name is Ben and I live in the far west of Germany.
Since nine years I'm driving a Grand Cherokee ZJ.
From that moment on I never wanted an other car than Mopar... No, seriously, over the years I started a collection of parts for the Jeep and so I wanted to use it further.
So six weeks ago I purchased a 1999 b-van.
It's an 8seater window van with a 318, same as in the Jeep. It's going to be a family camper and my daily driver. The drivetrain seems to be sound as I drove it home 650km (400 miles).
The interior needs some work, I'm going to try to transplant some of the "limited" goodness in the Jeep into the van, as power windows and locks and maybe the cruise control.
And there is extensive sheet metal work on the body.
What I've done so far:
Today I'm fabricating some panels and weld them in place on the inside floor and than cut out some more...
The corroded areas in the floor are the same on the other side and a bit further to the front. Also some smaller spots around the mounts for the rear seats. Also the the edges of the rear and the sliding door. And that's about it with rust.
Under the floor I removed the exhaust and the heat shields to clean the surface rust and to protect the whole underside.
Thanks for your interest.
Later some more.
Wish me endurance
