Dear fellow VANners,


I am curious to know if any of you out there have taken on the task of swapping out your

ChevyVan's original SBC (305 or 350) for a 454 LBC. I would love to learn about your

experience(s), what troubles you faced, and how in the end you accomplished this task.

I suspect that you can do it with off the shelf parts... assuming you can find them. You may also need to add stiffer springs to the front.

Stiffer springs for the additional weight of the engine|motor I assume.

Not sure about in a van but in a pickup it's a pretty straightforward swap. Everything bolts up. Motor mounts, transmission etc. Exhaust will need reworked and bigger radiator.

I know it can be done as I have 2 vans with factory 454's .... tight fit but it can be done.
