I've lusted after a shorty van for more years than I care to admit. I've had antique cars, trucks, and hot rods, but always on my bucket list was a short van. I recently came across an '81 Chevy G10 in particularly good original condition for any region, let alone the salt/sand carpeted winter roads here in Maine.
Except for an over-abundance of carpet inside, the outside is bone-stock and has provided me a dilemma. My heart saw this ride in a very dark green metallic with 16" Torque Thrust D's, a two inch drop all around and a warmed over 350 and late model OD automatic.
My mind keeps saying "They're only original once!" and this is an excellent unit to just simply bring back to as pristine as possible without a lot of changes. I was able to get the original title, a copy of the bill of sale, and a stack of maintenance papers with the purchase. I am the second owner having bought it from the original purchaser.
At the present I'm stripping out the old carpet. I guess there's nothing wrong with it, but deep shag, 37 years, and who knows what all, I'd feel a lot better about a refresh. Just sayin'.
So there you have it! My first post here on the forum and I've already turned it into a therapy session!
Looking forward to meeting you folks and sharing idea's. For the time being I'll take a seat over here and watch and listen for a little while.
Cheers
