They are not making these anymore for retail sale!! I purchased their last rear bar in April!! This may be the only chance of getting these bars made. Cost should be in the $200 range(John will have pricing) Part # 181 front, fits 71-78, rear # 203 fits up thru 2003. Hoping some others want sway bars!, I know I do!!!! Contact info: John Wright @Addco Cell # 1-828-676-6794 this is a direct line. OR 1-800-338-7015 extension# 102 Also contacted Quickor earlier, they can be custom made too, but about DOUBLE the price!! Don't think they need 10 each though!! So, if anybody wants these, Lets get ordering!!!! | | | Re: Sway Bars | Joined: Feb 2018 Posts: 116 Likes: 2 member | member Joined: Feb 2018 Posts: 116 Likes: 2 | I’m interested in a rear and front bar. Probably more interested in the front as the ride control shocks and air bags I have in the rear served well on the big road trip my GF and I are presently taking. The front needs a little more support imo. But I have a 91 b250 not 71-78.

If your van doesn't have one stock, you can literally bolt a stock bar on without drilling any holes in the frame. I did it on my brother's 83 Dodge shorty van.

Before buying anything, check to see how close to the differential cover your tank resides, and if the path to the holes for the end links is obstructed.
I have this very issue, seriously wanting rear anti sway, but having the largest fuel tank. The huge tank is awesome, but even with front sway bars the ride in my maxi van was rather livelier than I'm comfortable with.
It might be possible to engineer having a sway bar out in front of the differential, and I've seen examples of this on other makes, but I profess a strong allergy to drilling into the structural elements of my vans...
So, I went with Timbren air springs. They're a set of big airless bellows-like rubber cylinders which look a lot like the air shocks on a semi. They bolt into existing holes in the "frame" rails over the rear axle, and add a sway countering and load helper function when they contact the axle. In the cases where the ride height has been altered, Timbren offers spacers of several thicknesses which can be added at any time.
If you can contact a decent salvage yard they can do a computer search and probably obtain the entire front sway bar for you, including the necessary brackets and end links. All of the fasteners are pretty easily accessed, so labor shouldn't be exorbitant.

Can post pics if needed. | | | Re: Sway Bars | Joined: Feb 2018 Posts: 116 Likes: 2 member | member Joined: Feb 2018 Posts: 116 Likes: 2 | I had months ago decided against the Hellwig rear sway bar for this very gas tank related reason. I replaced the leaf spring bushings, and installed some air springs and some heavy duty rear shocks instead. Presently I'm pretty happy with the rear, with 20-30 lbs in the air springs it is a ton stiffer than stock. The rear bar could still help. But after the 2800 mile road trip we just did in the van I feel the front needs a little more than I have done (New sway bar bushings, shocks and going from 3200lb to 3800lb springs). I might get more out of doing the control arm bushings, but I definitely feel the larger aftermarket front bar would get me close.
Great to know the Addco goes in front of the axle. That should indeed work fine with the big tank!
Cheers everybody!

Jegs has it for sale, and I’m expecting it to be in the mail by the 6th of July-as I just spoke with addco.
These are still available!
Has anyone here used it? Are you happy with your purchase? | | |
