Anybody have experience with putting a 77 Chevy G10 33 gallon gas tank in a 73 Chevy G10 w original 21 gallon gas tank. Will the swap work?

Not sure about the '70s but I know the later models won't interchange between 22 and 33 gallon without modifying/swapping frame crossmembers.
I have a later model one of each and on the 22 gallon the cross member the tank "nests" into and is contoured to fit is closer to the rear while the 33 gallon is farther forward. Since these are welded in place they would require quite a bit of rework.

Thanks for the reply, like my 2nd gen cross member is welded ....hmmm. Now I need to confirm dimensions of 33 gallon tank vs 22 gallon tank, with the 383 stroker I am only getting 8-11 mpg and it would be nice to have a bit more distance in the tank.
