i just picked up a 79 chevy cargo van, and the sliding door isnt closing tight at the rear, unless i push in as im sliding it closed. any suggestions on how to fix it?

Adjusting it to close properly and evenly is trial and error that involves loosening/tightening the bolts a few dozen times. I hope you're a patient man.

i can do that adjusting, is there suppised to be a spring or something aalong the top slider hinge,? it closes if i push in on the back edge as its sliding closed...

You probably have to adjust the stop for the top swing out support arm. Part number 4 in the pic below.

It is mounted on a slotted hole, move it rearwards and the arm stops earlier causing it to swing in towards the van that bit earlier.

How did yours come out? I did mine following this advice but I would like to get the forward section about an 1/8th tighter it rattles over hard bumps.
