Hi everyone we have a 78 Chevy G20 gerring conversion we are slowly restoring. I am currently active duty Marine Corps and recently have been transferred to California from Virginia. Does anyone have any suggestions for towing? We have a 31 foot RV with 7,500 pound tow rating and there is little info out there about towing a vehicle this big or this old. Not sure if Dinghy towing is even an option.

Thanks!

Get a trailer, if nothing else just for the extra brakes, lots of mountains between those two places.
first choice would be to have it shipped, by the time you figure in extra gas and and hitch, trailer etc probably close to same cost and lot less hassle

Definitely get a full trailer, especially for such a long distance tow.

Hello, full time RVer here. Suggest not dragging drive wheels either 4 down or off a dolly without severe damage before you get out of VA. Not even leaving it in neutral. As said, shipping it wouldn’t cost more than $6-700 after negotiations. I don’t think your RV has the rating to pull it safely through MT passes on a 4-up car trailer.

Edit - new necromancer here. Didn’t expect the 2nd page to be a year dead. 😬😬 apologies
