Ive got a lead on a clean 89 B150 shortie with a 3.9 LA v6 and a 5 speed. Seller is unable to answer questions or show the van till next month. Ive been able to read that it should be a tbi engine but I have been unable to id the trans, too early to be an nv3500 I'm sure. Maybe a Muncie? If anyone has input on which trans to expect with hopefully a model number and how comfortable a b van with a stick is I'd really appreciate it!

So I have no idea what transmission that van has. But yes it should be a TBI in 89, which is nice because it’s a couple more ponies than the carb model. And a bit nicer overall drivability when tuned up nicely. I have a tbi 318 in my 91 and it runs nicely, what I have learned is there is not a lot you can do to the engine to increase power within the limited Realm of the stock computer. But you can sure get it running plenty smooth and as strong as reasonably expected.

Sounds like a fun van overall. I’d buy it!

- 318TBI; has headwork and other bolt on upgrades. Runs strong and smooth!
- Powertrax locker
- 3" aluminum radiator.
- Rear air springs, rebuilt suspension, steering stabilizer.
