Do you recall the matter in which the two fit together?
If your torque converter and flexplate fit together well and fit-up against each other, that is if you didn't use the bolts to pull them together, then I don't believe you have any problem.
If the center bore should bind during assembly or doesn't fit properly, and there's a gap between the flexplate and TC, the bolts should never be used to "pull" the two together.
That could bend the flexplate and cause trouble for sure.
