These are Moog springs recently installed on a '75 Dodge B100. I'm getting horrible clanking noise while driving, very metal-to-metal. I hadn't owned and driven the van much before replacing the springs so I don't know if it was making noise prior to spring replacement. I have new shocks as well, they fit fine. During investigating, I'm seeing the lower portion of the spring not resting in the lower control arm. Same way on both sides. Has anyone ever encountered this, or any thoughts I'd greatly appreciate. I'm planning on contacting Moog as well. I was thinking the control arm bushings may be bad, but I'm just now noticing this and I'm suspicious as to if this is my culprit. lol. Thanks!
Dang!! Those are the springs I'm looking at too !! Please let us know what Moog has to say about this!!!! They make spring cushions, but I believe they are for the '78 and later style. BTW, I can see the coil spring picture!! lol
They are supposed to be Moog 7170, although I had no papers of any kind upon package delivery, they showed up in the box, not even in plastic. And in my experience this is often a sign of a possible mix up. My next step is to contact Moog and hopefully send my pic. I find it hard to believe that this is proper fitment, lol.
Just spoke with Moog, they are telling me they are in upside down. There is supposed to be a white paint mark that goes towards the top. Embarrassing but in my defense I had zero paperwork to look at, lol. I had no suspicions that they were in wrong, initially. Anywho, it'll be a few days but I'll yank them out, flip them and report back, I know everyone is dying to know. haha!! -JD
