I'm gonna remove the subframe from my G30 to do a front end rebuild / clean /repaint.

I have disconnected the brake hoses, shocks , sway bar & pitman arm. Next I'm gonna support the motor from above using heavy duty ratchet straps and remove the motor mount bolts.

Is it just a matter then of removing the 2 bolts either side that attach the subframe to the chassis?

Sorry make that 4 bolts on either side there's two more lower bolts on each side that are hidden out of view in these photos. Also there's a few clips to remove on the subframe for brake lines etc.

I don't know about the G30, but on my g20, there were 4 horizontal bolts on each side and 3 vertical bolts on each side. Once the suspension was all removed the subframe was a piece of cake.

Looks very nice. I love seeing suspension parts that are clean and not covered in grease!

I supported the oil pan with a home made "cradle" of sorts that I made from 2x4 lumber and then 2 jackstands.under the wood cradle. (You can kind of see the jack stands in the picture I posted). The trans mount was still installed to hold the rear up.

Cool that's exactly what I was planning to do. Good to know it works and doesn't get in the way.
Great minds think alike or fools seldom differ..... hopefully the former smile

More parts cleaned masked and painted with zinc/aluminium paint.

More photos. I took the subframe out today. The only issue I had was one of the bolts was difficult to remove because it was so near the header. I had to grind down the end that protruded beyond the captive nut to shorten the bolt and get it out. At it's original length the bolt head was hitting the header before it was all the way out of the captive nut.
