1975 B 200 .Just considering swapping out my large single door for two side by side standards off a 79 I found being parted out. What needs to be done , I see the passenger hinges need to be drilled out and the door stops and lock plates but what else? Will the two doors bolt right up ?

Some folk say the large ambulance style doors rare and cool, but we think its cumbersome and hard to access rear bay in tight parking conditions . Will this be easy to resell or repurpose the door?

Its not that it isnt seen, I think what you want to do is going to be difficult. Not impossible, just difficult. The door frame is different as far as hinges and door latches. If your side doors are barn style, vs slider, look at those and the frame. Hopefully some one with more knowledge on body work can help you. And i say not impossible because a person with a cutting wheel and a welder can do a lot.

I have not done this swap but the two things that leap to mind:

Number 1, if you can't/dont want to weld and modify, since it sounds like you might have access to the parts van. Go over there and measure everything! Mainly make sure the width/height of the door opening is exactly the same. If it is that is over half the battle IMO. If it's not, you are in for a fun time fabricating!

Number 2; Examine the opening on the parts van, specifically inside the pillar the doors bolt into. Is there are reinforcement, specifically around where the hinges mount that you will need to add? Will you need to wack weld mounting bolts to the backside of that pillar? Relating back to number one and measuring, make sure you get measurements of where exactly those hinges mount from top and bottom of the opening, front to back in the opening, etc.

Anyway, hopefully this helps. Also for what it's worth I have the dual rear doors on my 91 B250. They are nice because I park it backed into a retaining wall in front of my house. With the distance to the street I can park it close enough to the wall to allow for both 1. My van to be enough out of the street. And 2. For me (granted I'm skinny), to move around the back and open the doors to put and remove stuff from the back compartment (assuming it's not a super large item anyway).
I also have the dual doors on the side and I honestly hate those. The van's my mom and dad had growing up (2 different Chevy Astros), had normal sliding side door. In tight parking spots I can't open the swingin side doors and still wiggle around and get me or stuff in and out at all easily. But oh well, I will live with that!

I like a Coroner 's door, its different & that makes it cool. Only Dodge had them. Dont do it !

I prefer the barn doors on the back myself, but that's personal opinion and preferences. But having them on the side can be a pita. I do wish I had a slider for the side instead.

I like the double doors better than the single. But I think I would not convert it. Unless you have a fabricating shop to work out of.
Then ya maybe. But that big door is unique. Not the best for camping. But it's just ok. It's hard to slam shut from the bed in the back.
Then that darn tire rack and tire wiggle like it's gonna fly off.

Oh ya my door was damaged and so is the tire rack,. The door has a big dent and the tire rack was bent all up.
I did my best to pull the dented door back and straighten out the tire rack, but I would replace the door if I ever found one.
No I didn't do it , LOL It was that way when we got it.
Looks like previous owner backed into a tree.
