Hi, y'all!

Bought a van, but plans have changed and now selling said van (or open to trade) so we can buy a class B RV van to tote the cats around in.

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1-1JREQhyO6LYdp_DILW09WrA7s-yNhOg?usp=sharing

Here's the deets:

1982 Chevy G20 Conversion Van
Not entirely sure of the engine, guy I bought it from states it's the 350 crate 5.7 L with a turbo transmission, which would mean that both are not original stock, haven't been able to confirm numbers on tranny or engine to support this
60K on odometer

The good:
New tires all around with alignment
New brakes all around including pads, drums, rotors, wheel cylinders, master cylinder, repack wheel bearings
New butterfly valve seals
New plug and wires, new HEI cap and rotor
New catalytic converter

Other news:

A/C (needs to be recharged)
Tilt wheel
Original two knob stereo
Heavy Duty rear springs
Front Swaybar
Tinted windows and curtains
Rear two bench seats, converts into bed
Rear bucket swivel Auxiliary seat
Cabinets
Sink
Blue Marble Shag Carpet

What a great van to drive. Drove it through the Santa Cruz mountains yesterday and hate to see her go, really a very enjoyable drive. 13 mpg doing highway speeds of 65+. We love the van, but have decided to go the direction of a class B van. Located in San Francisco where you can ask for a bit more sometimes, but don't want to be out of line or unrealistic.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Thank you!

ps--found this van on this forum after watching the documentary vanners. Love this van! Just not the right fit for our future plans at this time, looking forward to a future piece of history more fitting for our place in time in the future.

It's easy to tell what motor you have by doing a Google search of the block ID number, which can be found right on the top of the block near where it mounts to the transmission. Remove your doghouse and the number will be staring you in the face from the driver seat.

As for the tranny, an easy way to tell what you've got is to look at the pan.

Here in Indiana that would be a $1000 dollar van on a good day

It's worth well over $1000. I'd say $2500 as it sits.

Cool, thanks for the info on finding out what kind of motor and transmission she has. It is the first vehicle we've bought with the idea we'd have to learn to become DIY-ers to a certain degree, so we're on a steep learning curve here, but we're slowly figuring it out.

If all I can get out of her is what you're suggesting, I might as well keep it as I'm into it for far more than that.

That would be a minimum $4K van up here near seattle. I paid $2500 for my 65K dodge van last september, but the people selling it had no idea what they had...

Hey, Rich!

Got a pic? 4K would probably sell here in the Bay Area. I'd still take a loss. I'm probably going to list it for what I have in it with a little extra to come down from for wiggle room, but really curious about perceived value here.

Thanks!

1991 B250 Couchmobile Got your pics right here! Like I said, I paid $2500, but comparable vans were going for $4-6500 at the time. 63k miles when I got it, but it had been sitting and I had to do a few things right away; Two new rear tires (had been stored flat, bad sidewalls), fix bad grounds (had some lighting issues), replacement turn signal relay, but nothing all that hard or complicated. The more expensive Vans when I was searching tended to have more recent/through maintenance or maybe the Engine or Transmission had been redone. But you get the idea.

Very nice! Awesome little copilot you got there. I see a lot of this style conversion van for sale around here around that range in pricing. My husband and I drive a newer model GMC cargo van at work, but there's something about these vans that make them really fun to drive. Probably has something to do with a sense of adventure I suppose. Thanks for sharing!
