Sure I could build one, but I think I would rather save some time, and get something off craigslist and carve it up to fit my needs. i.e some old cabinet or such that a sink can be mounted to the top, and with enough room underneath for the water tanks. The parts for the sink, drain, faucet, water storage are easy to source off the shelf.
What have you done for your van's water supply?

I built a very small sink from a bucket. During construction pics: Not finished here: I use a 6.5 gal gray water tank under and one of those decorative water jugs with a tap on a shelf above. These were taken before I finished. I need to take some finished pictures....I just lazy. | | | Re: Sinks....whose built one? | Joined: Jun 2010 Posts: 18,286 Likes: 558 | Joined: Jun 2010 Posts: 18,286 Likes: 558 |

Didn't think of a steam table pan, that would cut down costs a bit. Plus you can get lids for them.

The little jug holds about 1.5 to 2 gals and is held in place by the old leather belt and buckle. The bucket is countersunk thru the wooded shelf about 3" so it can't slide around but the whole bottom rolls out to access/empty the grey water jug. We wanted to keep our "little cabin" theme. It works very well for hand washing, light dish washing, brushing teeth, etc. There's all kinds of ideas in the DIY campervan posts on youtube....(must be a million of 'em ) Keep in mind that whatever you install you'll need to be able to clean it (so it doesn't mold and get yucky) and drain/freeze protect it for cold weather. If you install a piped system (tanks, pump and faucet) save yourself some trouble by adding in a low point drain. My2%

Only because I want to keep it fairly compact to not take up too much floor space, and be able to haul it in & out of the van as needed easily.
Going to pick up somebody's unwanted IKEA cabinet tomorrow and make a hole on top for a steam pan/hand pump faucet, and then carve out a small side section to make it fit next to the rear heater blower/fan. I'll have to put some flashing/heat shielding of some sort there so it doesn't melt the cabinet.
I know that IKEA stuff is cheaply made and all, but this is a low budget build and I know how to cut that MDF/laminate crap without it splintering (much). | | | Re: Sinks....who's built one? | Joined: Aug 2017 Posts: 1,061 Likes: 47 old hand | OP old hand Joined: Aug 2017 Posts: 1,061 Likes: 47 | Started on a mobile sink......pics posted in the Van-na White thread in Readers Rides....
