Hey guys. been a while since I posted but been lurking in the shadows. Need a little help with this one. I'm trying to find a radiator for my van: 1982 plymouth pb150, no ac manual trans, slant 6, original radiator. Everywhere online says that the spectra cu962 is for my van, so i ordered one. nope...way too big. Returned and refunded no problem. So i poked and prodded and found one that looks like the one in my van but says its not for my van,spectra cu524. So do I order and hope its the one or do something custom? Any thoughts or ideas? have anybody else had this problem? Im not having any heating problems, knock on wood, but after 35 years there is bound to be scale build up and such. So this is more of a preventive measure at the moment.

Have you tried your local auto parts stores. Try and find the part number on the old one, take some measurements and let them guys do some searching.

Here is parts numbers and info for 1978-81 years, I would think they would fit an 82.

I have an 82-83 parts book.

4140602 = 225 manual trans standard 19 inch core
4140670 = 225 auto trans standard 28 inch core
4140964 = 225 auto trans standard 28 inch core for 1983

A 19 inch core will work fine on slant six van, provided the rest of the cooling system is in good order. A fan shroud and a clutch fan are nice upgrades. Of course, the 28 inch radiator would be better and let you tow a boat uphill in Death Valley in August.

Spectra CU962 is for an auto trans application, but is for your van and is a 28 inch core. That is the one I would go with. Rockauto has them for $170 plus shipping, and don't forget the discount code.

You can fit almost any radiator into a van, the tricky part is the hoses. But that is why they make those universal flexible ribbed radiator hoses. However, if your current radiator is fine, go get it boiled out and pressure tested at a good radiator shop and be happy.

Thanks for the information guys. Best place to get it. I'd like to stick with the stock size as it works good for me. I don't use the van for any towing or heavy loads. Thanks again for the information guys. This gives me something to work with.

Ok so a question. Sense everywhere I look for a radiator, it's says the cu524 is not for my van yet it is what is in from the factory. Do I just have an oddball setup or is it because the original owner ordered it so basic? I was lucky enough to purchase it off the original owners who were farmers and needed no more than just the basics.

According to Rockauto.com, Spectra PN CU524 equates to Mopar PN 4140602, which is the 1982 Mopar part number for a B series van with a 225 and a manual transmission and a 19 inch radiator core. So, CU524 is what you need to order. Rockauto sells them for $192 plus shipping, less the 5% discount code.

Thanks for the numbers Reed. I got the same thing at spectras website. They have a cross reference whitch said the same thing. 4140602 is a cu524. I'm probably going to get it through AutoZone. They have free shipping and %20 off of orders shipped to your home. Unless I can find it cheeper. Thanks for your help.
