Hey all - I recently rescued a '78 Chevy G10 shorty from a life of work, auctions and boneyards and am very happy to be back into vanning after a nearly 20 year absence (my last van was a '77 Tradesman).

The lil' Chevy isn't in the worst shape I've ever seen but I've definitely got some previously done "bodywork" (ugh...) to correct and a little rusty stuff to overcome but nothing major. I plan on leaving the exterior a little rough to show survivor status but will make the interior nice & comfy. The interior is currently bare bones and there's certainly a lot to be done so I'm sure I'll be asking my share of questions!

Welcome.

I’m 78’n too but changing over to ‘77 grill, bumpers and doors.
I’ll have a box of ‘78 stuff soon.

You’ve come to the right place.

Right on, definitely let me know. I'm in need of some chrome headlight bezels because both of mine are badly cracked and my driver's side door has seen much better days! Although shipping a door from Virgina probably wouldn't be the best idea...

I'd love to switch my front end to pre-78 but other stuff needs to take priority. I've got a nice pair of blinkers, headlight buckets & bezels from a '75 if you need them.

Put the door on a Greyhound bus ... way cheaper than the mail or UPS...

Thanks everyone!

If anyone in the San Diego area knows someone who could weld in some lower door panels without charging an arm and a leg or a decent body shop who won't take me to the cleaners, my rear doors and slider are rotted out & separated along the bottom edge because someone decided to let the window seals leak for about 30 years.

I can get the parts easy enough but definitely can't tackle a welding job that big...
