The paintwork is finally nearing completion on my 1985 G20, so upon it's arrival back home, I want to tackle everything under the dashboard while the windshield glass is still out. That should make things a bit easier as opposed to trying to figure it out with stuff in the way.

Anyways, Here are the things I'm going to do. Some preventative maintenance, some prep for future mods:

-Upholster or refurb dash cap in some way
-Heater core
-A/C evaporator
-Possibly blower motor
-Possibly the vacuum control for the HVAC (It sometimes acts up)
-New speakers
-New Stereo head unit and associated wiring
-Custom gauges? (maybe a future project since they are accessible)
-Make switch panels and wiring for various accessories I will be adding.

Is there anything else that I need to do while I have it all taken apart? Preventative maintenance? Something to make future work easier? Maybe insulation or sound deadening?

You mentioned the vacuum control but not sure if your including the plastic line that runs the control because they get brittle. If your considering an alarm, remote start and or power windows this would be a good time to acesss / install any elecetronics.

Replace the wiper delay board or possibly a complete wiper motor assembly. Very tough nut to get at after the fact...... cry

Lube anything that slides ,spins ,revolves or pivots. Clean all connectors with "De-oxit".

Good info all. Thank you. I forgot all about the wiper motor! And all vacuum lines are definitely being replaced.
