is it true that you should set these 350 tbi engines at zero degree's and let the simple computer advance them up ? i have alway's used a vac gauge on my carby motor's,tbi is new to me
That is the factory spec. The TBI engines with swirl port heads do not like a lot of timing. You can cheat it ahead a few degrees, maybe 4 or so, but no more.
Be sure to disconnect the bypass wire when you set your base timing.
TBI are set to factory, mine @ +4, and the dist automatically advances as you drive.
At my smog inspection, the computer tells the operator what it is set at. Any more than 2 deg off & you fail.
