Hello everyone. I've been looking at the that little button and toggle switch on the end on my turn signal for long enough it's time to get them working. I'm not even sure if my van has cruise control or someone just installed a stalk with the controls on it.
Has anyone got a diagram of the components used in the OEM cruise control? Or if you could post pictures of all the stock parts in place on the van that would be even better.
I'm not sure what I'm looking for in order to go over the system and identify the source of it not working.
I'm going to pick n pull today to grab a tow bar I spotted for the van so I could get the parts while I'm there. We have a tone of G vans at our local yard.
Ok so after some digging I found this diagram. It's not that well drawn and it kind of hard to follow so any pictures would still be good.
I also found the following instruction on testing if the module is bad.
- At the cruise module, test the following wires for voltage. If all wires test okay, the cruise module is bad. If you do not get the appropriate input from one of the switches, replace that switch. Test with the ignition key on and make sure the Gauges fuse is good. Also make sure you have vacuum to the cruise servo.
Gray - voltage with cruise switch ON Gray/Black - voltage with cruise switch ON and brake pedal at rest, voltage goes away with brake pedal depressed. Dark Green - voltage with Set button depressed. Dark Blue - voltage with Resume/Accel button depressed.
In my troubleshooting of my system, I found a post somewhere saying that 90% of failures are in the cruise switch itself. I bought a new one for $24 shipped from ebay. Sure enough, as soon as I pulled the switch from the steering column, I could see the frayed wires. I'd check that first. The wires in the stalk are only for the cruise, so if that's connected to anything under the dash, chances are you have cruise!
