Hi guys,

I'm looking to replace the LH fender and headlight backing panel (and probably the bumper support) on my '94 GMC G2500 Vandura. I've noticed a lot of spot welds, but, looking through the forums, I'm unsure just how many I'd have to remove. Can anyone provide insight?

So far I'm pretty certain I'd have to remove the following spot welds:

- Along the top under the windshield strip (windshield must be removed, or just stripping?)
- Between the fender and door all the way down (door must be removed)
- Between the bumper support and RH fender (so I can take the bumper support along with the LH fender)
- Somewhere inside the engine compartment?
- Somewhere under the wheel well?

I appreciate any help!

For financial reasons I'm forced to try to do this myself. My van's still drivable, but the fender really does need replacing.

They are along the edge where the fender meets the door frame, behind the headlights and unfortunatley where the fender meets the windscreen frame. The windscreen needs to come out. You will see the dimples, buy a good spot weld drill and it goes through them fairly quickly.

Where the fender meets the windshield you can cut the fender at the body line about 1 1/2 inches below the windshield cut the new fender the same way and weld it in there but be careful not to get the windshield rubber to hot

It's a tough job, there are 70 spot welds, you'll probably go through 2 cutters drilling them out. Also handy is a spot weld chisel/seam splitter.
