Vannin' Home Forums Chevy Troubleshooting Broken Door Handle - help?

I'm fixing up my old conversion van that's been sitting for a while - got it running and driving good. Went to clean it up today - got a few layers of grime off....

Then pushed the button for the rear door handle fully inside the door handle with the door closed and latched.



Any idea what the quickest fix here, is? do auto parts stores carry these kinds of parts? Is there a cross reference of different models I can look for in a junk yard? It seems like it's a pretty standard handle.

Is it safe to assume it will unlatch from the inside? I'll have to get a neighborhood child to climb through there and try it - I can't do it myself.

Anything else I need to know? I assume it's a case of popping off the interior door panel and having the righ parts in hand.

That handle has 2 bolts on the inside ... remove the door panel. Ive always gotten mine from the Bone Yard.

Because these things happen I keep a few on hand from the Bone Yard..... cost priceless

The local yard has online inventory - any idea what the year ranges are?

I believe 77-95 .... or 88-95 are the ones I have for my '92 & '93. Any part I get fits on either of my vans. Thats why I keep an inventory.

It's a 1995 GMC Vandura 2500

Ok ... the best fit will be a 88-95. Dont go into the express as the body is way different. Most yards will have some of these for around 3-5 $ ... a dealer may charge you 10-35$ depending how many kids he is putting thru collage .....lol

Are these available through Advance Auto or Autozone or any of the local auto parts suppliers.

The inside door handles are avail in stores but the outside are a dealer, ebay or bone yard item....

A dealer will want more ..... a bone yard will want less ....

It's a U-Pull - so just need to pop off a door panel and two screws?
