This showed up today. Seems pretty good overall, needs a few things I've found so far:

Dead speedo
Blinkers don't blink
Missing wipers, rear door lock, radio antenna
Slider door sticks, needs a small push outward from inside
Driver door loose when closed
Missing a few interior bits
Some squeaks inside (probably the door)

Wish me luck when I go smog it... worms

Careful with the smog, if it gets tagged a gross polluter you HAVE to fix it or junk it. I just get mine "certified" through that ol' "I know a guy who knows a guy" way of doing things

Both of my vans, CA DMV considers them "gross polluters" . The only thing they make me do is go to a test only station. If the repairs go over $500 the state will help you fix it. I like it that they send me to "test only stations".

Neither of my vans have ever failed a smog test in the 15 yrs Ive had them !

I always use a test only station....we'll see what happens whenever I get some time to drive 20-30 miles before going in for the test. I might put some carb/fuel line/cat. converter cleaner in the gas tank before that to see if it does anything for me.

That financial assistance frscke mentions above is only for 'income eligible consumers', i.e. apparently my household makes too much money to qualify!

Otherwise, I put some gas in it and drove it around the neighborhood yesterday and today. Stalled out twice at 2 different stop lights, but it started right back up. I didn't see any drips on the driveway after sitting overnight, and it looks like nothing is seeping/weeping as far as I can tell underneath, hopefully it stays dry underneath, it came from Nevada, so fingers crossed.

The wiper motors look like they work! Just need to go back to the pick n' pull to grab those off the van I harvested the lights from last week. Otherwise, looks like I'll be buying a lot of stuff from LMC over the next few weeks.....

So the two test stations I usually go to sent me packing. 'No old cars!' One guy basically hung up on me when I asked him if he'd smog it. Oh well, somebody else up the street gladly tested it.

I'm surprised I failed smog, said no one! Also, my wiring is totally jacked up....head and tail lights, parking lights, reverse lights work fine. Turn signals don't do anything. The turn signal ind. on the dash lights up when I hit the brakes. The high beam switch on the floor turns off the headlights.

Oh and the odo is dead too, the temp/volt gauges seem ok-ish, the gas gauge is suspicious, probably a bad sender unit.....the uncovering of thou Holy Deferred Repairs continues to unfold.....

Now that you failed go to DMV and get a application for financial help. Dont fix it & then apply ! DMV pays the shop direct up to $500.

https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/dmv/?1dmy&urile=wcm:path:/dmv_content_en/dmv/vr/smogfaq#BM2538

If you pay them DMV will not re reimburse you ...

Yeah man, I wish I could, but as I said in my previous post, I don't qualify........my household income is over the limit that the DMV sets. It's not like I don't have budget for this kind of thing anyway...

"You must have a household income that is less than
or equal to two hundred twenty-five percent (225%) of
the federal poverty level, as published in the Federal
Register by the United States Department of Health
and Human Services."
