hey guys....work van stranded me...2000 dodge ram van 3.9 v6.....while driving i smelt burnt wiring then van stalled...i popped hood and noticed the 40 amp battery feed #2 was blown....so i borrowed a good 40 amp fuse from the 40 amp rear auxillary blower slot and tried it in place of the blown one.....i then tried to crank it and it immediately blowed that fuse as well.....it got too dark to check any further...any ideas or pointers on what the cause may be or what to look at......this is my work van and i cant make any money til i get her fixed and bills already behind....help....thanks

Back track the line.
It is shorting out somewhere.
Rubbed through the outer rubber coating,
And touching the body, frame, somewhere.
My best guess.

Great, it's normally the small things that get in your way.

Maybe a inline fuse .... I had this happen to me in the '93. The whole dash went blank, hobbled it home on batt only & it was a inline fuse that stopped the alt from recharging the batt.

A multimeter would help a lot at this point.
Including the in line fuse, it could have blown other fuses
Or links.
I hooked a battery backwards once. It had all kinds of problems.
It could be a few things, but checking to see if the battery is receiving anything from the alternator is first.
Power regulator, positive cable, links, engine fuses, check both fuse boxes, and more.
A direct short is said to waist a weak battery, I've just never seen it.
Electrical troubleshooting is always a pain, more so in newer vehicles.
