Where to find exhaust parts for 93 Dodge?

Hi again guys....

My '93 Dodge now has developed exhaust issues. I think I've got a crack in the pass side manifold flange, and there is a definite hole in the Y-pipe. Both need replacement.

Problem is - I can't seem to find those parts. Anyone have a link for replacement exhaust parts for a 1993 B250 Dodge Van?

Chris

My 81 B250 van with the 318 engine and 727 Trans is a bit earlier than yours so the part numbers might not match, but I'll chime in in case it helps.

I had problems finding correct parts too; the local auto shops were happy to sell me Y-pipe replacements, but they didn't fit correctly, running too close to the transmission pan. They were functional, but I couldn't use the stock support bracket, and the transmission would cook...

It didn't help that the van came with no catalytic converter; someone had custom bent the rear part. I wanted to put the cat back in just in case I ever had to get an emissions test.

After a bunch of determined research, I eventually figured out that the majority of local parts stores sell Merit brand exhaust, who simply don't make a direct replacement, and what the parts stores were substituting, the Merit #95949, didn't fit!

I finally tracked down a Walker exhaust dealer, and the Walker #40347 Y-pipe fit perfectly.

Check out the difference:

I bought the catalytic converter on eBay.

Please try to locate a Walker dealer, and your success rate is likely to improve greatly!

It may be worth checking Rock Auto to see if they have the exhaust manifolds. Hopefully it's not the passenger side one. It's a PITA dealing with the heat riser! I found a source for the parts, but it requires some precision welding.

Ram, thanks. I'm going to try to contact a Walker dealer - because when I put in that 40347 part # into the computer, it's telling me that's not a match for my van.

AND, it *is* the passenger side. Ugh.

There's enough years difference between our vans that I figured that might be the case, but at least you have a new lead now. Please let us know what you find!

BTW, depending on whether your replacement exhaust manifold includes the heat riser valve or not, you may be really happy to learn that I dug around a bit and found my heat riser valve kit for the passenger side exhaust manifold. It's made by ATP Graywerks, #105021. It is identical in every way to OEM from what I can see, even including the identical instruction sheet!

The kit includes the stainless shaft and valve plate, the seals, bushings, weight, clock spring, and more. Not cheap, but getting that system working is worthwhile, and if your vehicle has an O2 sensor, substantial leaks from those shaft seals can pull enough excess Oxygen into the exhaust ahead of the O2 sensor to really confuse the engine controller, which will inject more fuel to try to bring the O2 down to the level it expects, making the engine run rich as a pig!

No one likes a smelly van which bogs down and can't get out of its own way!

An update here: I contacted a Walker rep and he said that they do not make this Y-pipe anymore, and they have no idea if any of the old casts are floating around in dealer inventories. My local trusted auto repair guy who owns a NAPA store says he can get one for me.......I'm going to check with him......

I like to look up the walker exhaust part numbers on http://www.walkerexhaust.com and then check ebay and rockauto for the best prices.

Yeah unfortunately, Reed, their website doesn't have a Y-pipe part number listed anymore on their diagram for a 92-93 Dodge van. The rep told me if there's no number - we don't make it anymore. HOWEVER, there is a Y-pipe for a 88-89 Dodge Van, under the same part number Ram posted.

Would there be a difference between the Y-pipes on a 89 and a 93 Dodge??

The diagram here says that part number works up to a 91 with a 5.2 V8...........

I can't think of any reason why a 92 318 would use a different exhaust than a 91 318.
