I have a 93 Chevy conversion van with a 350 5.7L. I have no idea what something like this weighs.
I also have a pair of ramps the state: Do not exceed rated capacity of 2000 pounds each or 4000 pounds per pair of 8000 pounds gross vehicle weight.
So can the ramps hold an 8000-pound vehicle?
Can I use these ramps with this van?

Check the Driver's side door jamb for the VIN label that lists the GVWR. The Gross Vehicle Weight Rating is the vehicle plus maximum allowed load. You front and rear axle capacity should be listed there as well. In the drawer in the console there should be a label that lists all of the RPO codes. Safety First!

It's a GL Adiator conversion and there are no labels on the door jam. I did a google search and found the gross weight of a 1993 Chevrolet g20 gladiator van is 6600 lbs. That seems right.
So this label on my ramps would indicate they should be adequate for this van..... Right? They look to be rated for an 8000-pound gross weight vehicle. Am I reading this correctly?
Ramp label Do not exceed rated capacity of 2000 pounds each or 4000 pounds per pair of 8000 pounds gross vehicle weight.

Math says 8000#-6600#=1400#. It's all about margin of safety. Ramp capacity minus GVWR equals magin of safety. It's whatever you are comfortable with. I do not like laying underneath a vehicle, but when I do, I prefer RhinoRamps. Use with Caution. Wrench Responsibly.
They say, any Questions, call. 855 702 6333.
Use with caution. Never exceed rated weight capacity. Rated at: 3000# each 6000# per pair 12000# gross vehicle weight
Cheers!

I believe most cost about $10-15 and you can get a reweigh for free usually. You should also adjust for a partial gas tank if not full. You will be able to get individual axle weights this way.
Our 1978 G20 weighs 5700# fully customized but I do have a fiberglass side door and hood and adjusted for a full tank and I am about equal on front and rear axles.
The ramps are set up to have only one wheel at a time on each ramp, so if they are longer than your vans wheel base, in theory they do not work.
Figure it this way, 2000# per wheel or 4000# per axle. that is why they say a maximum of 8000# vehicle for 2 axles but it means that both axles cannot be on the ramp at the same time.
My van as has a 120" (10') wheel base. I need to buy some ramps that will be around 16' long. I need to make sure they are rated for 3000# each ramp, 1500# per wheel and at least for 6000# for a pair. (the ramps I need will actually be 4 pieces with a center support for each ramp due to the length and height I need to go).
Check with Discount Ramps if you need ramps.

If you don't have any truck scales in your area, your local metal scrapper is another option. The ones by me have you drive on the scale loaded, drive off, dump your scrap, and drive back across. The difference is what the scrap weighed. So they might do it for you as well. | | | Re: How much does my van weigh? | Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 1,347 old hand | old hand Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 1,347 | My van weighs 8600 lbs. !!! 1978 CHEVY 4X4 VAN - BLUE-GREY 1977 CHEVY 4X4 VAN- BLACK | | | Re: How much does my van weigh? | Joined: Jun 2010 Posts: 18,286 Likes: 558 | Joined: Jun 2010 Posts: 18,286 Likes: 558 | My 146" wb white van weighs 8860# & my 4x weighs 9350#
