One of my driver side seat mounting nuts snapped off almost like yours; just the nut in my case, not the entire plate. Boy was I bummed; I could have prevented it if I'd thought far enough ahead. I should have put oil on the exposed end of the bolt before trying to unthread it back through the nut. It grabbed on the way out...
When ever will they realize that salt belongs on potato chips, not on roads, LOL!
I welded a new nut in it's place, and used some antisieze to slow down future corrosion.
