So I found some cool looking stuff, it says it last a couple years. It would probably be great for people that live up north where they put salt down for the winters or you are close salt ocean air like myself.

Thanks Kevin! That's a new one to me. Sounds promising. Are you going to go for it? Please let us know!

The very salt damage you mentioned is what eventually claimed my beloved old 79 Dodge B100 after I moved to Michigan. First vehicle I ever bought, right out of high school. Did all sorts of customization on it too. Doggone salt! It had Rusty Jones rustproofing. Yeah; about that... Sadly I let her go before I discovered the great community at this website, or I might have tried tackling the repairs.

I've gotten lots of mileage out of Rust Bullet automotive paint and Transtar 4361 rubberized undercoating. Rust Bullet is used on railroad cars; seriously tough stuff, but miserable to spray and rather fugly - it always has a substantial orange peel texture. Transtar is as close to vintage OEM undercoating as I've ever found. Since their factory is adjacent to Detroit, I really have to wonder... I once asked someone from Chrysler who had access to such information what undercoating they used to use, but he clammed up; we may never know for sure. You'd almost think they don't want their vehicles to last for decades... ;)
