I imported this 1980 G10 from the Us a few months ago, I have decided to repaint it but really would love to keep it the colour it was, its not the original colour, so there`s no paint code to work from. I even called the previous owner but he bought it with this colour, he has no idea of what it might be.
I`m hoping - yeah, its LONG SHOT - that someone out there might recognise the colour, it`s metallic blue,

Paint shops here (and I assume there) have devices that can "read" and then match a paint color, by simply scanning the surface. If you can't come up with a paint code, this service should get you VERY close.

Thanks Dave, I have tried a couple of paint shops locally, they say their scanner only `reads` late models, but you have me thinking I should contact some of the bigger shops nearer the city, they`d prob have more equipment. cheers.

My first thought when you asked was that it was a late 90s GM color that they put on their pickups.
I found some stuff and posted it, but the more I looked, the more the info didn't agree... So I edited the post to what is here now.

It really looks like a Chevy truck color to me, but I can't pin down what that color is called.
Some sources say "Indigo Blue Metallic", another source says "Medium Blue".

Is this close?

Looks very close, I`ll check out the auto shops tomorrow and see what Indigo Blue looks like in the touch up

Pardon me for being tardy to the investigation,
That being said;

Disclaimer on my sense of colour. For I have been told that I posses no such sense.

The two tone 1990 G30 in the pic here is Dark Blue Metallic, RPO 28U, over Light Blue Metallic, RPO 21L.

CazAttack has the same year same Chevy with what looks like the same color.

Duplicolor has these colors, same numbers. It looks a little darker into more of a Royal blue than your Van. Which is nice by the way. Good Sleuthing!
