by moving the fuel line aside I discovered a number on the engine ..

Can anyone get any info from that?

It looks like a serial number to me, but I don't know, and I can't find any way to decode it (or even find if there is a way).
The serial numbers for crate motors that I've seen have more characters than that, but also end in VP or VB.
Beyond that, I have no idea. I wish I could be of more help.

Thanks Rusty, it`s no big deal, from the casting numbers on the block one of the guys suggested previously it was a crate motor probably out of Mexico.
The main thing is .. I have a number, coz without it I would have difficulty registering it. I hope the new rad is ready tomorrow (Friday) otherwise it`ll be Tuesday as it`s a holiday weekend here.
