Just came across this forum and thought I'd join the community.
I purchased my 1981 Dodge B150 Prospector Van last summer from a gentleman that ruined the engine. Fast forward to now I am getting ready to purchase a long block 318 and transplant it in. While I have it apart I will be pretty much replacing or rebuilding all things mechanical. The goal is to have a super reliable and robust van for fishing and camping in the mountains.
I'll try and post pictures throughout the process.

Welcome Blevins2005! Nice looking van you've got. The long block is a really good choice after all the havoc caused by that piston shattering - ouch! That poor 318; what a way to go!
Are you going to keep the original carburetion or upgrade to a higher performance system? Several folks here, like Reed know quite a lot about such upgrades and how to obtain the best match for what you're hoping to accomplish. It's also possible to upgrade the transmission to one of the later overdrive automatics, which improves fuel economy by nearly 30%.
While the engine is out and the weather is warming up is a great time to consider such things!

It's what you learn after you know it all, that counts...
Are you living to work, or working to live?
Learning from my own mistakes is good, learning from yours would be much better!
