I noticed last night on the master cylinder, there were two reservoirs. The larger rear one was full, the smaller front one is empty, the owners manual appears to be gone so I can't reference, is the small one supposed to have fluid in it? What it looks like

Welcome to the Site! Super good job on reeling in Grandpa's Van. Very, very cool.
And, Yes.
"Add fluid to both reservoirs to bring the level to within 1/4 inch of the top of the lowest portion of the reservoir. Fill to the Full mark or to the top of the reservoir divider. Use only approved brake fluid."
You scored a nice Van there. Last year for the G10/20. Congrats Gladiator! Van on! | | | Re: Reunited after 17 Years | Joined: Aug 2015 Posts: 129 member | member Joined: Aug 2015 Posts: 129 | the front reservoir that is empty I believe goes to the rear brakes, least in mine it did, and I found a leaking wheel cylinder, common problem in the g series vans. | | | Re: Reunited after 17 Years | Joined: Oct 2016 Posts: 294 Likes: 6 enthusiast | OP enthusiast Joined: Oct 2016 Posts: 294 Likes: 6 | I drove the van back home to my Grandma's house today, about an hours drive from the dealer. It drove pretty smooth the whole time and did fine at 70 mph. I figured out it has the optional 33 gallon fuel tank and the holiday traffic gave me a chance to get used to the mirrors and blind spots. I filled up the smaller brake reservoir before I left although the brake light still came on as soon as I started it, when I checked it latter it was empty so it is definitely leaking, I'll have to check the wheel cylinders. Back under the carport after all these years Hope all of you from the U.S. have a nice Thanksgiving!

Love it that you were able to get her back, and in such good condition too! I have enough difficulty even finding pictures of old vans I've known. What does your Grandmother think about it coming home? Such a nice color, and I've always liked those wooden light fixtures too. Do you think you'll be able to tackle that rust under the big conversion window before it punches through? If water gets into any insulation or under the carpet it will create all sorts of havoc. It's cold enough now here in Southeast Michigan that it's pretty much ground my bodywork to a halt. Hope you have better weather and working conditions!

She has mild dementia and sundowners but she still has alot of memories of the van and she was very happy to see it and thinks it still looks good. Eventually I'll take her on a ride but it'll be a bit of a struggle to get her up to the seat.
