Should be simple enough to swap in a 5.9 Magnum V8. I personally like the 2500's length better; looks more proportionate. I have a 3500 maxi with the gigantic caboose hanging off the back end. If it has a straight body and rust free frame, I'd go for it v6 or not. | | | Re: Another Dajiban build. | Joined: Mar 2016 Posts: 7 stranger | stranger Joined: Mar 2016 Posts: 7 | "The drop kit is in. Dakota spindles and a flip kit. I tried to install it today but was not able to get the ball joints to come apart. I didn't have my pickle fork at the shop to separate them."
Do these just bolt on automatically dropping the van (How many inches?) and are they rated for the weight of the van? | | | Re: Another Dajiban build. | Joined: Feb 2008 Posts: 3,586 Likes: 1 pooh-bah | pooh-bah Joined: Feb 2008 Posts: 3,586 Likes: 1 | You would have to change the computer radiator and a host of other things its not like an older Van or car where you just swap the motor and the springs and up grade the radiator . The newer ones you have to deal with a lot of ECU controls . Can it be done ? Yes but add another 1,500 bucks to your swap funds .Its more cost effective to find a V8 . I built a half ton truck years ago and used coil over shocks and a four link on the rear if i was do to do one of these vans id do the same thing just maybe add air bags to the rear for load hauling . | | | Re: Another Dajiban build. | Joined: Oct 2016 Posts: 56 journeyman | OP journeyman Joined: Oct 2016 Posts: 56 | I have read some posts that it is a direct swap and others say you need Dakota rotors as well. I will find out once I get a chance to try and lower it again. Still about 30 days before I make it back home though. | | | Re: Another Dajiban build. | Joined: Oct 2016 Posts: 56 journeyman | OP journeyman Joined: Oct 2016 Posts: 56 | I finally made it back home although was home for a few short days around Christmas. During that short visit home the water pump started leaking like mad. So I just picked up the new water pump today and plan to install it this week. I also plan to do an electric fan conversion on the radiator.
Also during that short break at home I installed a 8" Android touch screen stereo. Pictures to come. | | |
