I am new to this scene. I just purchased a 1972 E200 Supervan and am stoked to have it. This one has manual steering and manual brakes. The motor is a 302 with a three speed on the tree transmission. I know power steering and brakes were options and I test drove one van that had them when I was shopping.. so I want to buy the parts and swap them onto my van.

I suppose my questions on this are;
A) Where is a good place to source the parts.
B) Are any of the parts shared with the F100 or similar cars of this vintage that I could shop for, or do I need to shop for specifically E200 parts?
C) What tips do you have for this project.. any pitfalls to look out for or tricks to make it go smoother.
D) Is there a place to order new pre-bent brake lines to match the factory specs?

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Best bet is to find a donor van at a wreckers as the parts list will be extensive including steering box, pumps and brackets, and the PB booster and 90 degree actuating assembly and bracket and manifold connectors....

Good luck

I recently converted to power brakes, you need a donor for the bracket, the power pedal assembly is required but one can make due without, you will need to make a rod to go from the pedal to bracket, the other will be too short, I used a heim joint and a piece I bought on ebay that threaded onto the rod yet looked like the end that originally attached, Bronco graveyard sells the adjustable rod, but I wasn't spending $50 for it. The mid ran a manual steering box with a hydraulic ram assist, which requires quite a few pieces to scavenge, not a cheap addition by any means once you rebuild them, which will be necessary, I put a spinner knob on from a tractor, get one and forget power, if I can manage, you can too.

Maples01;
Thanks for the tips.. yes Power Brakes seem to be easier to do than the power steering.. And I think I need power brakes to be safe driving around Baltimore city streets. I can manage with manual steering for a while.

If I can get a power brake 90 degree bracket from a junkyard with the associated push rod/linkage from the pedal then can I go to a parts store and buy the master cylinder and booster new to bolt in there? I don't see any value in rebuilding old components if I can buy new ones..

And any tips on parts vans in my neck of the woods would be appreciated.. anyone know of any good junk yards in the MD,VA, PA area? I like Leons in Leon VA.. but am not sure of any other yards within 2 hours of me that have E200's laying around.

Thanks again,

Mike

There are several companies that make electric steering setups, which will be the route I go with mine...
The E200's are a bit different than my E300 to upgrade to power brakes, can't help you much with that...

I've been speaking with someone who used the front spindles, steering box, and hardware from a third gen van for a Mid Ford PS swap. They said they just had to make their own bracket for the steering box and the rest was all off the shelf. No luck on getting a write up for it.
