Well, Im back in Brazil for a month of work but slowly cranking on the van. As I reported last time new rims & tires are on, new motor and transmission installed (got in a hurry to leave and forgot to take pics, damnit!). I had all the "U" shaped benches and bolster cabinets remade with new plywood by a carpenter friend and just sent the COMPLETE interior from the captain chairs to all the trim and door panels to be remade and re-upholstered with all new high density foam. I had to change up the brown velour from the '70s and went with a tan ostrich naugahyde with a orange/yellowish tint (really cool look to it) and a light chocolate brown naugahyde accent with hand stitched thread in brown. The captains chairs are being reshaped with hi density foam to have a racy look with built up bolsters on the sides like the new mustang. For the front door panels and the two side door panels my upholstery guy is carrying the wide outside lower strip to match the inside with a naugahyde strip and going to embroidered "SHAGGIN' WAGON" in brown in a "SHAKEN" font. Not many options and real shag has to come from Germany and insanely expensive plus shipping it was going to be like $2000 for carpet. So I went with 4 area rugs I found on ebay (insanely expensive too but way cheaper then the other option). The carpet kind of looks like a road pattern or at least I hope so when they get installed. And I think I am getting closer to finding the exterior color I want- still going with the same theme and mural but I wanted the paint to POP! It is a blood/orange with fine tangerine metal flake and maybe some pearl (or not).

Sooo, it has been a while since my last RODCO update- a long while! LOL The original owner and I are still conversing and he sent the original license plate, lots of photos and other cool stuff- My maiden voyage might have to be to Vermont to let his see his ride one more time. Things have progressed nicely.

1. interior complete with lots of custom embroidery and the dash is painted Hotrod Flatz matalic brown
2. I welded a double din stereo box on the dash and installed A/C vents
3. 6 trips to the local junkyard for A/C components and brackets $85.00, robbed an abandon astro van of the front fan, evaporator and condenser. Just ordered rear evaporator, vents, and flex hose on ebay $125.00. Vintage air wanted $2500 in parts alone- a little research and I will have it done for under $700.00 front and back A/C.
4. installed new headman long tube headers, intake, carb and TCI torqflight street fighter transmission
5. Dry fitted the Gladiator rear fin
6. Installed the wall to wall carpet
7. Installed his/hers sunroof and need to install 17x36 moon roof in the rear roof
8. Ordering paint this month- Leaning towards blood-orange with pearl...

I hope all has been well in the vanning world- keep on vanning!!

Thank you for the kudos!! I got the seats new off of ebay $150 for the pair and $150 for shipping. They came out of a 2016 Toyota Sienna being refitted for handicap use and I had my upholstery guy do the re-cover to match. I took a pic of the floor mats and sent them to his embroiderer- the seats turned out better then expected. I am mounting them on new an seat swivels I found on ebay as well.

Found a LUND moon visor on ebay... I called LUND to confirm the 1971-1993 Moon Visor #12025 it was indeed for a B series Dodge van and they confirmed it was and has been discontinued for a very long time. It is hard to understand how people can buy something like this and never install it, it is/was listed as new in the box. Did I over pay for it? Yeap, but, I like the look better then the brow type and I saw a identical one as the one I bought used on ebay and it was beat to death and the guy wanted more for it. So really I think I hit a good lick. This NOS for vans are getting hard to find.

I easily understand it...
Intentions vs. reality, plans vs. life...
I've got lists of things that didn't work out like I planned. LOL
