Can a side slider door be switched to barn doors? Has anyone done this, and is it labor intensive? looking for options for my 74 Chevy shorty.
Thanks

Quarter panel is different, has body line at top missing on slider door version (under track cover)

Step area is different

Forward door pillar is reinforced differently

Upper frame has latches

So, if you wanted to do it right, all you would need is everything on the passenger side from the passenger door back.

Keech, your asking a funny question a slider is 1 style and a Gullwing is another style. There are a couple of vans out there with fiberglass sliders Chris Karsons drag van and Dave Jarvis's track van but they're both equipped with these doors for light weight. Gullwing doors are still available for our G vans there is a company called van crazy customs making them. As afar ar swapping barn doors into the slider body like Gregg says there is a lot to change but I've seen it done. Another thing is the 2 barn doors AKA 60/40 doors are slightly smaller due to the pillar right behind the passenger door being slightly thicker to support the 60 door. Thre is some serious body fabrication do do this swap correctly but it has been done and looks pretty cool when you realize that you looking at a pre 84 chevy without a slider.

Agree...loved the 60/40 door on my 87 white shorty...wish I had one on my 77.

I do like the functionally of the 60/40 doors but you gotta admit the slider door is a little cleaner in the appearance department. I would like to see someone put a set of hidden hinges on those 60/40's that would be something.
