If your going to make a dually you might want a Dana 70 rear case. What gearing & tires are you thinking about ? Is it a real shorty at 115" wheel base? You'll need to stretch it about 30" to "have mine sitting about where yours is" as mine is 146". My '93 has 3" lift to get 35" tires under it. 2" under the leaf springs & 1" on top of the springs. Any pic of my under carriage you need ?

Yes, it's the really short one. I thought it was actually 110" wheelbase? It's real close to a K5 blazer, which is the main reason I went with it. I'm going to wheel the hell out of it..
I'm going single wheel, using a 16x8 w/315/75/16, 4.25" backspacing. My main issue for the rear is that I didn't realize that vans had a wider rear end, so I just bought a truck 14-bolt when I picked up my front 60, they both came out of a dually. I should find a van 14-bolt so I can use the stock rear leaf spring mounts, but I blew my load on everything else already so I kind of need to use what I got. I thought I was going to get lucky and my buddy would have a diff for me, but we lifted up the old camper today, and realized it's the same rear end that I already have, spring perches are 40" center to center. D
Do you think there will be a noticeable handling difference with mounting the springs underneath the "frame rail" vs. on the side? It's only about 3" inward...
I'm using 52" springs for the front, and crossover steering. The steering is proving to be a little difficult. I have to get creative with the drag link, because the pitman arm has a tapered stud instead of a hole. I think we came up with a good way to get it done, we'll find out next week! lol
I picked up my sockets for the hubs tonight, so I can do my srw hubs and rear discs this weekend. All of the bearings and u-joints look good in the diffs, it looks like somebody already went through them at some point. So basically just a tear-down, paint, and put cool stuff back on. I went hunting for driveshafts yesterday, and found enough parts to make both shafts, so that's a huge plus. I was dreading dropping $600+ on new ones.
All my transmission stuff showed up today. B&M rebuild kit, corvette servo/and governor, tcc lockup. The u-bolts and plates all showed up today, and the front leaf springs should show up tomorrow with my shackle flip brackets that I"m not going to use now.... ugh
I just try to do as much as I can every day, tons of little shit to do. Hopefully we can pull the original motor/suspension out of the van on monday, then pull my motor out of the motorhome on tuesday/wednesday. I'm using my buddy's shop, so I'm kind of at his mercy.

HAPPY VANNING! lol

Pretty ambitious schedule, took me over a year to finish mine and it was already 4x4, Just a heads up on my front Dana 60 I'm limited on tire width because at full stop the tires will rub on the leaf springs 285,s was as big as I could go without affecting my turning radius. Good luck

I popped the diff cover off the 60 today, and noticed that somebody has already gone through it, but they welded it and put 5.38 gears in..... If it was a trail rig I'd be in-love, but being that this will be a street beast, 5.38's aren't gonna cut it. I called a rock crawler buddy, and he has a matched set dana 60/14 bolt with 4.10's, so I think he's gonna trade diffs with me. I also pulled the np205 off the th350, and inspected it. It seems tight, so it's just going to get a gasket set and I'll call it good.
The rest of my parts showed up today, so things are going to get serious next week. I got a looooong way to go, and a short time to get there.....haha

I couldn't find a 16" wheel with less than 4.25" backspacing, so that's what I ended up with. If things rub, I'll look into spacers. I've used them in the past with good results.

Woo-hoo! I found a VAN 14 bolt, and it was filled with 3.73's and a G80. So the gear isn't as low as I'd like, but I'm rolling with it for now, just gotta order a R&P for the dana 60 and rear ends will be complete.

We started the tranny build tonight, hopefully we'll get it finished up in the morning. I went with the B&M transkit, monster sun-shell, corvette governor and servo, and TCC lockup kit. This thing won't lock up the converter until 4th gear, and it will shift into, and stay in overdrive while under full throttle. Not to mention the full manual/automatic operation. The tranny shouldn't give me any problems for a long time, or until I put a turbo LS motor in it. Even then, it should still hold up if I'm not too hard on the Go-pedal.
My new leaf springs showed up, along with the shackle flip and shackles from DIY4x. I got the plates and u-bolts yesterday, so we're ready to get started on fabrication.
I'd love to get started dropping the motor and suspension out of the van, but I just keep having to deal with little things. Hopefully I can get the diffs all cleaned up with brakes installed by the weekend. My buddy is going to the smokies for a hot rod show on thursday, so my work week will be cut short.
Hopefully we'll get to drop the motor out of the van and motorhome next week. Everything else will be ready to go, so we can start the build..... Keeping my fingers crossed! lol
