Like many others before and since, life happened. I had an opportunity and took it. I regret none of it. Over the past 4 years, I've opened a business and worked my fingers to the bone building it with a passion. My house went into forclosure and Jan and I sold virtually everything we had to fund the gamble. It payed off. Of course, along the way I made some decisions I'm not particularly pleased with, like parting with the Street Survivor and giving up my weekends at evants. The plus side is that now I have a business that provides a living for 8 families and is growing steadily. Those of you that still follow me on Facebook have noticed a change in the past few months. I'm finally able to step away from time to time to enjoy life and breathe a bit. Yesterday I bought my next project, a '68 Chevy shorty. It's time, and my love for vans just doesn't go away. It may be awhile before I make another evant, but I'm well on my way, and it feels good for me to pop in here lately and see that the enthusiasm is still there. I'll be here more often again and look forward to being back on track. VAN ON!

I never heard where the Dodge ended up! Hopefully in good hands. It is also good to hear that you worked hard to get where you are as so many across this country are counting on the government for a free ride! Good luck with the new toy and keep us updated. Hey they used to do tattoos at runs, become a vendor. O

And since I'm an old Chevy guy (had two G body's in the 90's) congratulation to the early. It looks really good.

Good to hear that business is booming for you and your employees. Be sure to check out vcvc.org there seems to be a boot registered on there but not active forever. Hope to see you down the road. | | | Re: You knew I wouldn't stay away | Joined: Jul 2009 Posts: 6,256 Likes: 164 Master Metal Sculptor | Master Metal Sculptor Joined: Jul 2009 Posts: 6,256 Likes: 164 | | | | Re: You knew I wouldn't stay away | Joined: Nov 2003 Posts: 3,124 pooh-bah | OP pooh-bah Joined: Nov 2003 Posts: 3,124 | Thanks guys!
Virtual, yup that's me over at VCVC. I've been a member there for years, but don't think I ever posted there as my forte has always been Dodge vans. You'll be seeing more of me over there too as I learn more about the earlies.
Joe, luckily we did save the house, but only by days. We made a lot of sacrifices. I was completely out of work for months while we built the shop, and every nickel we could scrape together went into it.
Johnny, the van went to a guy from Pa, who brought it to Keystone the year before last and took a first place trophy with it. Knighty did a write up about seeing it there, but I don't think he's been around other evants since, but I really don't know. He said he was renaming the van "Aces High" because it was already on the back window (the name of my shop). It'd be interesting to find out how it's being cared for.
