Thanks!

Alright, I'm working on ordering the parts for the front suspension. I thought that I had read somewhere on here to avoid polyurethane bushings on these vans (squeaking/not holding up if I remember right). (The forum search function doesn't seem to work anymore so I can't find where I saw that). I have used Energy Suspension Polyurethane replacement bushings on many of my other projects (tuners/imports) with no real issues as long as they are lubed properly. Never had a van like this before though.

I see that Energy makes poly bushings for the upper/lower control arms and sway bar. Is anyone using these? What's the consensus? Should I just go with the original style Moog instead? Is the ride/handling actually going to be improved with poly, or is it in vain to try to make a van like this handle?

OMG!! I totally LOVE the Cressy!! I had an 83 mkII Supra for almost 10 yrs. Went through a total rebuild,God I miss that car. I was trying to get a Cressy for years but never found one worth having or priced reasonably.. Here is a pic of her before we parted ways.

Sorry for getting off topic.
As far as the poly bushings Id figure they should be fine. With a 4 speed a lower, stiffer stance and some fat deep dish wheels and your swinging into the Dajiban movement lol. Would go well towing the race car.

Thanks for the comliments! Nice supra too!! I've Definitely got a soft spot for these old Toyotas. While it's not quite the same thing, I've got a 1985 Celica GTS also. It's currently in storage waiting on a full restoration.

Well I spent most of the evening dealing with snow, but I managed to start working on the van some. It is weird to be using the odd sockets with fractions on them. I mostly work on imports, so they are all nearly brand new still lol.

In just over an hour, I removed the sway bar, steering linkage, shocks, and calipers are hanging (not going to remove these until I have new ones). Everything so far has come apart relatively easily considering they are all original parts from 31 years ago.

Energy suspension upper/lower control arm bushings, sway bar bushings, and bump stops are ordered, as well as the 2.5" drop knuckles. Should have the $ for the rest of the parts in a week or so. In the meantime I'm going to be cleaning and coating the chassis. Every wear part is getting replaced, and the few things that aren't are getting sand blasted and painted.

Good luck w your front end rebuild. I would like to follow your progress. I'm going to rebuild my 89 G20 front suspension as soon as the harsh San Diego winter is over. It's been 20 years since did the same w coils, shocks, bushings, ball joints, etc.

I got the rest of the front suspension apart last night. Everything came apart fairly easily. Going to work on removing the bushings and joints from the arms tonight. Also need to remove the steering gear box and pump as I am changing those too.

The underside is in very good shape. While all the parts are removed, I'm going to clean it up and POR15 any rusty areas, then cover everything with 3M Rubber undercoating.

There's a part of me that want's to remove the crossmember and have it sand blasted and repainted before I put it all back together, but I'm not sure how to support the engine while it's out. Usually I would support it from above, but the lack of a normal hood makes that hard.. Any ideas?
