Not much to report, but I finished all the "behind the scenes" wiring at the rear and got the back corner panels mounted. I forgot to take a still picture, but here is a short video of the "fire places" working. https://www.facebook.com/tuner4life/videos/10222288934634765/ | | | Re: Tuner4life's 1985 Chevy G20 4 Speed Build Thread | Joined: Feb 2016 Posts: 1,266 Likes: 43 old hand | old hand Joined: Feb 2016 Posts: 1,266 Likes: 43 | Damn you’ll have a camp fire and be sleeping under the stars inside your van. That’s way cool!

Somebody call the Fire Department..." | | | Re: Tuner4life's 1985 Chevy G20 4 Speed Build Thread | Joined: Sep 2013 Posts: 1,015 Likes: 19 old hand | OP old hand Joined: Sep 2013 Posts: 1,015 Likes: 19 | Progress has been a little slow the last couple weeks as I've been helping my wife with some projects she's doing upholstery on, and also helping install Air ride on my brother's Lexus. I did get some time last night however to figure out the dome light situation. I wanted a good amount of light, but didn't want the lights themselves to be too much of an eyesore. Definitely nothing large, or mounted into the fiber optic headliner.. Here is what I came up with, they are simple little LEDs from amazon. I am putting 4 per side right up at the ceiling on the side trim. And I will likely add another pair to the bottom of the front overhead console, and maybe a couple along the floor. I think I am ready now to install these panels permanently in the van! Anyways. Pictures.. The panels are pretty dusty in that last pic. | | | Re: Tuner4life's 1985 Chevy G20 4 Speed Build Thread | Joined: Sep 2013 Posts: 1,015 Likes: 19 old hand | OP old hand Joined: Sep 2013 Posts: 1,015 Likes: 19 | I also stumbled on another idea.. I have been struggling about how to do the front door panels. I kind of want a full panel that goes all the way to the top (no blue showing), but fabricating that as well as leaving clearance for the vent windows and everything was going to be ridiculously difficult. On top of that, I wasn't sure how to make an armrest on the window ledge that would be both comfortable and aesthetically pleasing.. Then I remembered these little pieces. They are the trim piece that mounts above the Jag folding tables on the back of the seats. I ended up not using them for my tables, however, they seem to be an excellent candidate for an upper door ledge, and would cap off any door panel nicely. Obviously these would be wrapped in the gray-wood vinyl to match. Just daydreaming at this point.. | | | Re: Tuner4life's 1985 Chevy G20 4 Speed Build Thread | Joined: Sep 2019 Posts: 1,510 Likes: 172 Master Yard Rat | Master Yard Rat Joined: Sep 2019 Posts: 1,510 Likes: 172 | That ledge looks perfect.

There will be 4 "dome lights" on each side. Even with just 1 side installed, there is quite a good amount of light. I'm happy with it. I also got my PA speaker installed and connected to the CB.. That's going to be fun ;) | | |
