Not shifting out of 1st but I'm hopping it's a sending unit. I have my trans to swap if necessary. 121,500 2nd owner miles. No window slidder w/ no rust comes with it... bin sitting in a garage for 5 yrs. Seats don't even need covers...not a single rip or tare. A good cleaning and patience and I'm back on the road. FrictionAffect. If you think I asked dumb questions b4 put a spit bib on...Let the rebuild begin. | | | Re: 95 1/2 G30 350 | Joined: Jul 2006 Posts: 1,593 veteran | veteran Joined: Jul 2006 Posts: 1,593 | Very cool, before you swap the trans do some electrical work, it is a possibility that the computer keeps the van in 'limp mode' which means it won't shift out of first gear... Especially if it's been just sitting for 5 years... | | | Re: 95 1/2 G30 350 | Joined: Sep 2009 Posts: 1,086 old hand | OP old hand Joined: Sep 2009 Posts: 1,086 | I'm gonna count them tomorrow but the Trans Tag says Turbo Hydra-matic which has got me confused. The 4L60e has 16 bolt and the 4L80e has 17 bolt trans pans. Why would the tag say Hydra-matic. And of course wifie wrote the vin# down wrong as i was reading it to her...but i love her. Grrrr. | | | Re: 95 1/2 G30 350 | Joined: Sep 2009 Posts: 1,086 old hand | OP old hand Joined: Sep 2009 Posts: 1,086 | Good thought Truckin...wiring issue. tks man And BTW I have a classic Vanner Pic of you...well your bare feet, hanging off the passenger side head rest, slider open and you "sleeping" in the back at Carlisle last year or the yr b4. I'll see if i can find it. cheers | | | Re: 95 1/2 G30 350 | Joined: Nov 2009 Posts: 644 addict | addict Joined: Nov 2009 Posts: 644 | My 1995 G30 came with a 700R4 all computer controlled.

Thats paired up with the 350 5.7 right ? The vin# code says its a (K) 6cyl motor at production. WTH. It's got a 350 in it and I never herd of a g30 with a 6 cyl. I can count 8 spark plugs for christ's sake...am I going nuts... i'm really confused now. I better go to bed. | | | Re: 95 1/2 G30 350 | Joined: Sep 2009 Posts: 1,086 old hand | OP old hand Joined: Sep 2009 Posts: 1,086 | A cup of coffee and some sleep...there were 2 vin code sheets that i was looking at for GM vehicles...and looking at the truck/van sheet helps. the code is a 350 5.7 not the 6 cyl listed on the passenger car sheet. daaaa | | | Re: 95 1/2 G30 350 | Joined: Jul 2006 Posts: 1,593 veteran | veteran Joined: Jul 2006 Posts: 1,593 | LOL I'd like to see that pic...!
They did make G30's with the 4.3, but extremely tall gears (4.56, 4.88) to make them still haul...
Also after 1992, 'all' G-vans should have a 4L60E, or 4L80E trans, it's just what GM did, but I know firsthand about sometimes things slip through the cracks, or how people just put parts in to keep it going... | | | Re: 95 1/2 G30 350 | Joined: Sep 2005 Posts: 9,880 Likes: 242 carpal tunnel | carpal tunnel Joined: Sep 2005 Posts: 9,880 Likes: 242 | K is definitely the 350. If you can find the RPO sheet that'll have the most info. You got it today.......so where's the pics??? I use the Ford Fleet Vin decoder. It works for all brands. http://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenance/vin-decoder/
