Anybody have any recommendations where to buy a replacement fuel tank for a 1974 ford Van, e100 model?

I spotted a small leak.. so was curious what it would cost to replace if my patch work proves unsuccessful.

A lot of radiator shops also do gas tank repairs. Find out what years your tank crosses to in case you have to go that route

Hi sivdre, Welcome to the site.

That is a tough one. Wish I knew more about the Fords. '68 to '74 is second generation. I found tanks back to '75, then Poof...

I wasn't able to find out much to help you, not sure what will fit if you can't find a tank. But you could if you had too, some of the more knowledgeable Ford Vanner's on here would for sure know more.

Good Hunting, and Wrenching on this.

I had good luck fixing a sizable leak with JB-Weld. . . .

Un-less you used their "tank-weld",you haven't fixed the issue. Tank weld is the only of their products rated for use in gasoline. ANd then they only claim it's only "resistant".

However, if your tank is rusting from the inside out then a sealer kit won't fix it. You may need to adapt a generic aftermarket fuel tank to your van. I have never worked on a mid-Ford so I don't know what the gas tank looks like or what aftermarket fuel tank options might work.

Talk to some Hot-rodders.Find a shop that will fix yours. After-market tanks will be made of a thinner gauge metal.

Any solution to this? I took measurements of my tank and found them to be the same as a 1975 tank. Unless the filler neck is in a different location, I don't see why it wouldn't work.

*EDIT*** I made a 1975 tank work with very little effort. Just grab a 90 degree pipe from a speed shop or muffler shop and some flex fuel hose. It will mount in with the second gen straps, just bend the straps to make them fit the new tank. I also had to make some longer J bolts from a U bolt.
