I wonder if that saves that much money at the factory to stamp those in, I remember some pickup trucks with the weird cutout panel in the bigger cabs. Just do not understand why factories think these is a good idea. Because it saves on tooling costs. If it's a panel, you remove the punch that cuts out the hole for the window. Since a die big enough to stamp out the side of a van costs $500,000 or more, it's a big cost saving to only need one die.
