I'm taking a bunch of parts to be re-chromed this week and I would like to see if I can find reproduction "FORD" letters for the grill and back doors before I spend the money to have mine re-chromed. I know there are some sites that have the letters for the ford pick-ups, but I can't tell if they are the same as the van ones. | | | Re: Ford emblems #57272 January 14th 2001 2:21 pm | Joined: Dec 2000 Posts: 310 enthusiast | enthusiast Joined: Dec 2000 Posts: 310 | I don't know about repros but Ebay has a lot of listings for used emblems and such, I bought a mint set of fender emblems for my 79 Chevy Van from there. | | | Re: Ford emblems #57273 January 15th 2001 3:00 pm | Joined: Dec 2000 Posts: 252 enthusiast | enthusiast Joined: Dec 2000 Posts: 252 | JC Whitney has a lighted oval here, and RB's Obsolete has a bunch of older logos, not sure if they have the lettering for the more current vans, give them a call... McDonald's Obsolete Ford Parts might have something in NOS you could use. Finally, eLighters.com has Ford logo zippo lighters... | | | Re: Ford emblems #57274 January 16th 2001 9:06 pm | Joined: Dec 2000 Posts: 129 member | member Joined: Dec 2000 Posts: 129 | I might have some in the garage, but won't know until the spring!! Actually have personally found a lot of this type of thing at the local junkyard for peanuts. If you don't come up with any, give me a yell and I will bundle up and start searching. Mike

They will send you a catalog of all kinds of parts and accessories that they reproduce under Ford approval. I have found most of my parts that I needed to restore two old Ford trucks and a "65 Galaxie. Good Luck! | | | Re: Ford emblems #57276 January 18th 2001 5:02 pm | Joined: Dec 2000 Posts: 129 member | member Joined: Dec 2000 Posts: 129 | Actually, so many people strip them off, I would think there would be more sitting around!! Did you check the local junkyard yet?? There were a couple strip yards in Mass. that still let you walk through and stuff like that was gratis if you talked good. As in: no pits or anything. Sorry.... I have all the emblems, and all are useable, but some are pitted and the paint has flaked off. I ended up having to take the grill to an anodizing shop since they are the only ones that will touch it. Being that the grill is aluminum, it can't be "chromed" like steel parts can. It has to be anodized. Also, since the emblems are made of die-cast, they have to be taken to a shop that can do die-cast chroming. The first shop that I went to couldn't do any of the work because all they did was regular old steel. But, the guy did hook me up with the anodizing shop. | | |
