Recently acquired a 78 Ford van. It's the one listed in Classifieds/Criagslist findings. Thanks to everyone who rode the buying roller coaster with me.
I gave it up at first because of no title and the hoard of clothes, boxes, blankets that the homeless people the owner allowed to camp out in it was still in the van when I went to pick it up. Like...8 inches of stuff in a leaky van made a huge moldy mildewy mess.
It was since cleaned out and I was able to obtain the title. I picked it up on Saturday.
I'm considering parting this out as there is rust on the roof under the vinyl top and around the sliding roof, the inside is waterlogged, top leaks in various places, transmission is out, wiring is a disaster, bondo is cracked and has been for a long time. Various things are just broken or do not work. Will need to be stripped down inside and out to fix right.
Here's some pictures...poor thing...seen way better days...

What a shame. It sure looks like it was a sweet van back in the day.

Whew! I can smell the mold and mildew from here! I hope you left that huge sunroof open while you towed it home. Unless that van is a famous show van or there is some other highly compelling reason to save it, I think it is a parts van. With the amount of rain we get here in Western Washington and with a leaky sunroof, I guarantee that than will basically need to be stripped to a shell and have every single system completely gone through. Not worth it in my book. Part it and make a profit.
