excatly how hard is it to hook up gauges like these , is there a lot of wire splicing , or is it pretty easy ?

My set-up was a bit different as I replaced the entire harness, but it's pretty easy to set up a central 12v wire, ground and dash illumination wire. Other than that all you need are the signal wires to each gauge. Takes a little time to do cleanly but not difficult. I added GM weatherpak connections to make it plug and play which added time during the initial install but has been a huge help since.

Autometer makes gauges for GM senders so you should have plenty of options, and the signal wires are only one per gauge.
