OK I have driven all winter with it, but I can't put off fixing it any longer. I'm planning to take a 1.5 hour trip with my AWD Astro, with passengers. So drowning it out with the stereo is not an option this time. It was hard to tell where it was coming from from the drivers seat so first I removed the spare tire. Not it. I finally got to ride in the back, it's definately below the floor. Precisely about a foot from the passenger side rear wheelwell. Right between the 2 pockets that the rear bench latches into. From under the van the Right rear shock mounts right there, so I removed it (That got ugly). Still squeaks. I'm going to try taking apart the rear swaybar bushings and greasing them next, even though it doesn't sound like the noise is coming from that far back.

So guys, any other ideas what could be squeaking from that spot in the floor?

pinion bearing ? U-Joint ? just guesses, but a start.

I had a squeak from hell on a old van, finally had to have a buddy drive while I hung out the side door listening, turned out the squeak was from up by the trans, a piece of metal was rubbing the drive shaft, but I swore the squeak was from the rear of the van.

Good luck and if you try my method, BE CAREFUL ! !

Spring hanger ? Do you have steel or Fiberglass leaf ? My Fiberglass spring squeaked just before it broke !

Spray some PB Blaster in the hangers and the leaves ( if steel ) and see what happens

I have to keep tighting the right rear crossmember 18mm bolts. Also on the right front spring hanger. Spray some PB Blaster in the hangers.Work the blaster back and front sill the bolts tighting. It works for me. shawnzo.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention when it does the squeaking. It's during bumps only. So not drivetrain. It's either suspension or something that is not supposed to move but is moving, loudly. It sounds like rubber on metal but could be metal on metal if rubbing just right. I don't have any PB blaster, just WD40. Is that gonna work or should I run out and get some blaster? I will check all of your suggestions, except yours Fester LOL. At least not while sober.

WD 40 should work fine.

PB Blaster is much better than the WD40 and will last longer...however having said that, either will work fine to pinpoint the issue......

so internal van movement when parked in a circle is an issue you may want to deal with before Lost lol
