Since the brake light circuit passes through the turn signal switch, most manufacturers have the 3rd brake lamp on a seperate circuit. You'll need splice into the wire coming right off the brake light switch....before the turn signal switch.

Ever get behind someone at a stop light and notice that the only brake light working is the 3rd one? Other than possibly being bad bulbs, usually that means the person's turn signal switch is bad.

Having the turn signals up where your 3rd brake light is going...

We often wonder the same thing! lol

I will post pics of my solution later on, but . . . . what I did was mount two smaller lights up high near the roof line, wired to the turn/brake circuit so they only lit when I used the turn signals or hit the brakes. I used LED lights so not to but too much draw on the flasher. . . . works great!

I used two lights like these, except mine are clear with red LEDs. . . .

LED MARKER

I used the clear because they do not hardly show against my white van, but when I hit the brakes HELLO !
