yeah

If you do want the EASY upgrade, tho (4 barrel, cam and such) Give Edelbrock a call. Talk to their tech people and tell them what you have and what you want to get out of it, and they will tell you the best grouping of parts for you.

Reed is dead on with the low end torque set up. You don't want horsepower increases as much as you want low end torque to get the beast rolling and then you want good cruising RPM's.

The large tube Headers (1.5") and large dual exhaust (2.5") will work wonders for this set up also.

One real simple and real effective performance mod: if your outfit is more than 20 years old, replace all the vaccum hoses. All of 'em, just go buy a roll of hose and start replacing. Little vaccum leaks make the sensors fail to work and the chip to default to rich. I'd try that and a tune first.

Hey guy, his van is a 1975 van. It doesn't have a computer.

UPDATE!!

I just freaking bought a OEM replacement. Im go tired of the headache. I will keep the core and learn how to rebuild it myself.
I will eventually get the good stuff, but for now I will go with factory items.

BROTHER REED>

Since you and I have a 3rd gen Ford, what HEI ignition will you recommend me sir? After changing the carb I will to update the ignition as suggested.

I assume you mean you just replaced the factory carb. Sounds fine to me. Just make sure you get the new one properly adjusted. You might find that you can get plenty enough performance from the stock two barrel carb.

HEI is HEI. All you need is a good HEI module, a relay, and a heat sink. I recommend you peruse THIS post, but keep in mind that it is written for the slant six owner. I posted the wiring diagram and a link to a Ford specific conversion website back on the first page of this thread. It really isn't that hard to do. Don't waste money on a "high performance" HEI unit. You won;t need it. Just get a good unit from a parts store.

Alright.

Just got done changing the carb and the intake manifold gaskets. Go and check the picks under MR Black 1975 ford econoline under members rides. HEI module, hooker headers, muffler silencers, altenator will come next.

Did some tuning up to the carb. We also check the timing and the freaking distributor was 10% off factory spec. I change the ignition coil, spark plugs and the spark plug wires.

I CAN TELL THE DIFFERENCE>>>>>>>> WOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOO.
My baby runs so smooth. Dont smell gasoline anymore, runs fast and slick, feels powerfull. Im super happy I had to share. What a little bit of reading, basic tune up and patience can do. smile smile

Gonna try the HEI option Brother REED recommended, im also buying some Hooker Headers and wrapping them up. Gotta keep the baby happy.

Yay! Now you see why I recommend you make you have already work its best before you start replacing stuff. Sometimes, it is surprising how well what you already have can work.
