I had the front end checked out and some repairs done right after I got it. Now my ABS and Brake lights are on full time. A diagnostic revealed (aside from a very slowly leaking master cylinder) a code 72 which apparently indicates a faulty ABS controller. A friend had a great experience with a rebuild using this company... http://www.modulemaster.com/en/Dodge/Van_info.php...and they seem to give you good instructions specific to your vehicle on how to pull it yourself. Has anybody done a abs controller replacement or had any experience with rebuilds? The guy at the shop said they're pretty pricey to replace but the rebuild at $130 is definitely more affordable. 2000 Dodge Shorty Factory Custom 89 GMC Shorty Custom 81 Dodge FullSize TMW 73 Dodge Shorty Camper | | | Re: 2000 Dodge - abs controller | Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 21,211 Likes: 25 Supreme Master | Supreme Master Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 21,211 Likes: 25 | No experience here in that ballpark, but you may want to replace that leaking master cylinder as well.

Good thing the van is a second vehicle. But also a good thing the truck's AC shit the bed cause it made me start driving the van daily and I got annoyed with the brakes grabbing. Going to ship it out tomorrow.
Anyway, apparently without the ABS Controller hooked up, the speedo doesn't work...?

Your cruise most likely wont work either. | | | Re: 2000 Dodge - abs controller | Joined: Sep 2008 Posts: 272 enthusiast | OP enthusiast Joined: Sep 2008 Posts: 272 | Hmmm. I'm hoping the fact that the engine light came on on the way to work today is also related. 2000 Dodge Shorty Factory Custom 89 GMC Shorty Custom 81 Dodge FullSize TMW 73 Dodge Shorty Camper | | | Re: 2000 Dodge - abs controller | Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 28,125 Madman! | Madman! So I sent away the ABS module. They checked it out and sent it back as nothing wrong with it. Special thanks to BrakesPlus for the mis-diagnosis. Good thing I didn't have them replace the module at their prices. ModuleMaster, said their diagnosis indicated a faulty speed sensor, $25 at Autozone and a relatively easy swap. Well, it would have been easy if the plastic shell of the original sensor hadn't broken off in the housing but that was the only minor speedbump. So after I swapped out the speed sensor and replaced the abs module (and left the battery disconnected to supposedly reset the codes), the frikkin brake and abs lights were still on. Whatever. I ignored it for a few days and drove my truck instead and apparently that gave the gremlins time to clear out. No warning lights now and speedo works again. It's all good.

However...On OBDII computer systems, disconnecting the battery doesn't always clear the codes or reset the light like it did back in the days of OBDI systems. A scanner plugged in to the diagnostic port can clear them permanently
